Negeri Sembilan water tariff hike to improve services, settle RM700m debt and fund new dams, says MB
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun announced a water tariff hike, emphasizing it won't burden the public but will improve services. The increase, agreed upon with the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, aims to address the state's RM700 million debt, fund new dam construction, and improve water management. Domestic consumers will continue receiving subsidies for up to 40 cubic meters, with the first 20 cubic meters fully subsidized. The increased operating costs, particularly due to higher electricity tariffs, necessitate the adjustment, with the actual cost of water treatment exceeding the consumer price.
