Community support helps baby reach fundraising goal for surgery
The community of Miri, Malaysia, rallied together to raise RM100,734.05 in just seven days, exceeding the RM95,000 target to fund a life-changing auditory brainstem implant (ABI) operation for 22-month-old Yvonne Paw. Born without cochleae, Yvonne requires the specialized ABI surgery scheduled for August 16, 2025. The fundraising campaign, spearheaded by Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, was officially closed after surpassing its goal. Yvonne's parents, both teachers, expressed immense gratitude for the overwhelming public support.
