Singapore issues ISA order on youth radicalised by ‘salad bar’ of extremist ideologies
A 14-year-old Singaporean student has been placed under a Restriction Order for self-radicalization influenced by a mix of extremist ideologies, including ISIS and far-right anti-Semitism. He also identified as an "incel." While he had online contact with foreign extremists, including one who offered to help him plan an attack in Singapore, he did not take any steps towards an attack. The case highlights the growing trend of "salad bar" ideologies, where individuals adopt elements from various, sometimes conflicting, extremist beliefs. The youth will undergo a rehabilitation program including religious counselling.
