Police: Elderly man’s death in Kuching classified as sudden death

An elderly man was found dead in his Kuching home at Kempas Heights. Police have classified the case as sudden death after finding the body seated on the living room floor. The Fire and Rescue Department responded to a distress call due to a foul odor emanating from the house. Firefighters gained entry and discovered the decomposed body. Neighbors reported the man lived alone and estimated he had been deceased for a week. The body was taken to Sarawak General Hospital for a post-mortem.

RM3.6 mln invested in 14 parks, recreational projects across Pujut, says rep

Miri assemblyman Mayor Adam Yii reported that RM3.6 million has been allocated to 14 parks and recreational projects in the Pujut constituency between 2022 and 2024 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP). Yii emphasized the importance of these projects in promoting healthy living and community well-being. The projects are spread across Pujut, Piasau, and Krokop, including walkways, pocket parks, futsal courts, football fields, and basketball courts. While most projects are complete, some will have second and third phases. Limited state land availability restricted development in the Pujut area.

Foul smell leads to discovery of elderly man’s body in Kuching home

An elderly man, believed to be in his 60s, was found dead in his Kempas Heights, Kuching home after neighbors reported a foul smell. Firefighters from Tabuan Jaya station responded to the call and gained entry to the house with police permission. The man, who lived alone, was found deceased inside, with his body already decomposed. Authorities believe he had been dead for approximately a week. Firefighters assisted police with access but were not involved in further investigation.

Lorong Salim 18D to close for water pipe installation starting July 14

RM2.4 million approved for Kapayan Square upgrade

Extra funds needed to fix Desa Indah basketball court before July 19 tourney

Senadin assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin is seeking additional funding to repair cracks and repaint the basketball court at Jalan Dato Permaisuri 3C Recreational Park in Miri. A separate RM300,000 drainage project at Jalan Dato Permaisuri 2C has been completed, aiming to mitigate flash floods and dengue issues.
