In Singapore, Louis Vuitton wins S$200,000 fight against ‘recalcitrant’ Instagram counterfeit seller
A Singapore-based Instagram seller has been ordered to pay Louis Vuitton S$200,000 in damages for selling counterfeit goods. The seller, Ng Hoe Seng, operated through two Instagram accounts, selling fake phone cases, passport covers, and other items at significantly lower prices than genuine Louis Vuitton products. Despite a cease-and-desist letter and subsequent lawsuit, Ng continued selling the counterfeit items. The High Court ruled in Louis Vuitton's favor, awarding damages though less than the S$2.9 million sought.
