‘Not our kenyalang’: Affin Bank slammed for mistaking Sarawak’s iconic hornbill
DAP Sarawak's Violet Yong criticized Affin Bank for depicting the Great Hornbill, a non-Sarawakian species, on a bank card meant to represent the state. Yong highlighted the difference between the Great Hornbill and Sarawak's state bird, the Rhinoceros Hornbill, pointing out the distinct neck coloration. She called the error a 'cultural misrepresentation' and urged Affin Bank to issue a correction, public apology, recall the card, and replace it with the correct image. Yong expressed disappointment, especially given the Sarawak government's stake in the bank, and questioned why GPS leaders hadn't addressed the issue.
