Sarawak steps up integration into Asean Power Grid, targets 15GW by 2035
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan announced the state's commitment to the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) by expanding its energy infrastructure and supplying electricity to West Kalimantan and soon, Brunei. Sarawak aims to become a Southeast Asian economic hub, focusing on renewable energy, particularly hydropower, with a target of 10GW capacity by 2030 and 15GW by 2035. The state is also diversifying into hydrogen, carbon capture, oil and gas, petrochemicals, and aerospace, promoting sustainable economic growth.
