Sarawak to benefit from 703 new homes, 2,191 renovations under RM112.4 mln PPRS
Malaysia's Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) has allocated RM112.4 million for the Program Perumahan Rakyat Sejahtera (PPRS) in Sarawak for 2025. This initiative will build 703 new homes and renovate 2,191 existing ones, aiming to improve living conditions for the poor. The PPRS replaces the Hardcore Poor's Housing Programme (PPRT) with increased financial aid per unit (RM85,000 in Sarawak) and renovations (RM20,000). Houses will be larger (680 sq ft) with flexible, sharia-friendly designs. Under the 12th Malaysia Plan, RM377.7 million was allocated for Sarawak's housing assistance, resulting in 2,317 new and 10,629 renovated homes.
