Pineapple threads and royal roots: Negeri Sembilan’s historic kebaya charms Kazan
A 120-year-old Baju Kebaya Setengah Tiang from Negeri Sembilan, made from rare pineapple fibre, was showcased at the Russia-Islamic World Kazan Forum 2025. The garment, once belonging to a royal family member, represents the state's unique matrilineal customs and Malay cultural heritage. Its presence at the forum, attended by over 20,000 delegates, highlighted the modesty and elegance of Muslimah fashion. Accompanying accessories and songket textiles featuring Bunga Lado motifs further showcased Negeri Sembilan's cultural identity, promoting the upcoming Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026.
