Lifts upgraded at five Kuala Lumpur monorail stations to enhance accessibility
Eight lifts at five Kuala Lumpur monorail stations (Imbi, Maharajalela, Medan Tuanku, Hang Tuah, and Raja Chulan) are now operational after upgrades. These improvements aim to enhance accessibility for all passengers, particularly the elderly, disabled individuals, and families. Further upgrades to the remaining eight lifts and one escalator at six other stations are expected by the end of May 2025. This is part of a larger RM12.6 million initiative to improve 11 monorail stations, including previously completed platform door systems and wheelchair lifts. Monorail ridership increased 8% in 2024, reaching an average of 57,000 passengers daily.
