Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad has been officially appointed as the new Serdang District Police Chief, effective today. He takes over from Superintendent Shahnaz Akhtar Haji, who has been appointed as Deputy Serdang Police Chief. Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, witnessed the handover ceremony. Hussein praised Muhamad Farid's extensive experience, including his previous role as Labuan Police Chief and his academic background in drug abuse counseling. He also expressed condolences for the nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) officers who died in a recent accident in Perak.

A house and shop were destroyed in a fire on Jalan Raja Musa, Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, this morning. The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 7:15 am and dispatched 23 personnel and machinery from the Jalan Tun Razak Fire and Rescue Station. The fire destroyed 100% of the shop building and a motorcycle, while a house was 80% burnt. The fire was brought under control at 7:41 am and fully extinguished by 8:38 am. No casualties were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

A 69-year-old man died after his motorcycle was hit by a car on Jalan Kota Bharu-Kuala Terengganu near Pasir Puteh. The incident occurred around 6:30 pm. The victim was heading towards Pasir Puteh from Kuala Terengganu when he allegedly changed lanes, leading to the collision with a Toyota Corolla driven by a 54-year-old man. The motorcyclist suffered severe head injuries and died an hour later at Hospital Tengku Anis. Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Fire and Rescue Department divers recovered the body of a 62-year-old man from a 4WD vehicle that plunged into the Sarawak River near the Tun Salahuddin Bridge. The man, found in the driver's seat, was a resident of Kampung Bintawa. Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said investigations are ongoing and urged the public to avoid speculation. The case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report (SDR).
