UM dental students provide care and support to former drug addicts — Nor Azlida Mohd Nor and Mia Izrina Izzuddin

University of Malaya dental students conducted a community service project focusing on the oral health of recovering drug addicts. Substance abuse negatively impacts oral health due to factors like reduced saliva flow, increasing risks of cavities, gum disease, and infections. Stigma and discrimination create barriers to accessing healthcare, further exacerbating these issues. The project aimed to address these challenges and improve the overall well-being of former addicts.
