Seoul says fired warning shots after North Korean troops crossed border

South Korean troops fired warning shots at North Korean soldiers who briefly crossed the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on Tuesday. Seoul's military stated the North Korean soldiers retreated after the warning shots. Pyongyang, however, called the incident a "premeditated and deliberate provocation," claiming South Korea fired over 10 shots and risked escalating tensions. The North Korean soldiers were reportedly working to seal the border at the time of the incident. This comes despite South Korea's new leader's attempts to improve inter-Korean relations.
