Cybercriminals are exploiting the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) cash aid distribution by spreading fake messages via WhatsApp and Telegram. These messages falsely claim STR payments have been credited and lure recipients to click on malicious links disguised as official government portals. Kaspersky reported over 4 million internet-based cyber threats in the first quarter of 2025, averaging 44,000 attacks daily. These attacks can steal personal data, disrupt messaging systems, and compromise user accounts. Authorities urge the public to verify information only through official government websites ending in ".gov.my".
