Motorists, especially those in small vehicles and on motorcycles, are advised to avoid the East-West Highway at night due to the risk of encountering elephants. Perhilitan Perak director Yusoff Shariff explained that elephants are most active at night while foraging, increasing the likelihood of encounters. This warning follows an incident where an elephant damaged a vehicle at KM11 of the highway. The Gerik-Jeli stretch is known for such incidents, with a previous case in January involving a herd surrounding a car.
