Malaysia maintains its target of 10,000 EV chargers by 2025, as stated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. Despite current figures showing only 3,611 charging bays as of December 2024, the government remains committed to achieving this goal. High demand for faster DC chargers is being addressed through collaborations with Petronas and other industry players. The initial plan of 9,000 AC and 1,000 DC chargers has been revised to 8,500 AC and 1,500 DC chargers to meet this demand. Efforts are focused on ensuring sufficient charging infrastructure across highways, rural areas, and the entire country, including Sabah and Sarawak.
