A 42-year-old financial analyst in Kuala Terengganu lost RM147,350 to an investment scam advertised on Instagram. He joined a WhatsApp group where a supposed employee of a Chinese securities firm convinced him to invest via a non-existent platform called HTGIC. The victim made 13 transfers to various accounts, using his savings, borrowed money, and company funds. He filed a police report after realizing the scheme was fraudulent. Police are investigating the case as cheating.
