Malaysia will establish the first ASEAN Women's Economic Empowerment Center in Kuala Lumpur to further advance women in the region. Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said Malaysia aims to increase female workforce participation to 63% by 2030, aligning with Malaysia's 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship theme of Inclusivity and Sustainability. Targets include ensuring at least 30% of corporate board positions are held by women and doubling the number of women-led businesses entering export markets. Women comprise nearly 50% of the ASEAN population, but their workforce participation averages only 48%, with 27% holding senior management positions. Women entrepreneurs also face greater challenges accessing credit.
