ASEAN trade officials, concerned about growing Western protectionism and US reciprocal tariffs, agreed to move beyond "business as usual." Meeting ahead of the main summit, they discussed the impact of these policies on the region's trade and investment. Malaysian minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz stressed the need for ASEAN to be more agile and bolder with forward-looking strategies to protect its socio-economic interests.
