Sri Lanka is delaying the release of a nationwide wildlife survey on crop-destroying animals like monkeys and peacocks due to questionable data. Some farmers allegedly exaggerated the numbers, leading authorities to review the survey conducted on March 15th. The survey aimed to assess the extent of crop damage and develop a national plan to address the issue. While elephants are a major cause of crop destruction, they were excluded from this particular count. The government previously considered exporting monkeys to China but abandoned the plan after protests.
