Malaysia's Transport Minister Anthony Loke has declared the Kejara demerit point system for traffic offences ineffective. The current system only deducts points after a summons is paid, leading many to avoid payment. Loke admitted the system's failure and announced a major overhaul. The revised system will no longer be contingent on summons payment and is currently under legal and application review. Kejara was introduced in 2016 and updated in 2018 as part of the AWAS system.
