The Malaysian Human Resources Ministry is partnering with the Penang state government to establish a chip design academy to bolster the semiconductor and high-tech industries. Minister Steven Sim stated the academy will train engineers and equip the workforce with advanced skills to attract investment. The initiative involves collaboration with the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) to provide matching grants for companies investing in staff training, including professional diplomas. A special upskilling program for fishermen and their families in southern Penang Island has also been approved.
