This surge follows its recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012 and a National Geopark in 2021. The boost has significantly impacted the local economy, particularly for rural communities and indigenous people involved in tourism-related activities. Lenggong is now aiming for UNESCO Global Geopark status, with the Perak state government actively coordinating efforts and collaborating internationally to achieve this goal.
