Loagan Bunut National Park in Baram, Sarawak, has strong potential to become Malaysia's next Ramsar site, boosting eco-tourism. Sarawak Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil emphasized the importance of collaboration between local communities, especially the Berawan people, and Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) to achieve this. Minister of Tourism Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah plans to visit the park soon. Designation as a Ramsar site would bring funding for conservation and sustainable management. Penguang also proposed extending the Miri Heritage Trail to include Loagan Bunut and Fort Hose.
