Australia and Malaysia are negotiating a strategic partnership to boost Australian halal meat exports. The partnership aims to leverage Australia's agricultural expertise and technology with Malaysia's prominent halal industry. 17 JAKIM-registered Australian exporters already supply halal meat to Malaysia, with significant volumes of sheep and beef exported in the past year. Malaysia is Australia's second-largest red meat market in Southeast Asia, driven by high per capita beef consumption. The existing MAFTA agreement further strengthens the economic ties between the two nations.
