Former celebrity preacher PU Azman's appeal was partially successful, reducing his jail sentence from 24 years to 12 years. The High Court ruled that his two 12-year sentences for sexual assault against a teenage boy will run concurrently, instead of consecutively. The court upheld the two strokes of caning. The original sentences were handed down by the Sessions Court under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, for offences committed in 2022.
