Sarawak DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) criticized SUPP Youth chief Kevin Lau for dismissing the controversy surrounding Affin Bank's use of the wrong hornbill image on its Kenyalang Visa Debit Card. Dapsy chief Peter Hee stressed the cultural and historical significance of the Rhinoceros Hornbill as Sarawak's state emblem, particularly for the Dayak community. He argued that Lau's dismissiveness demonstrates a lack of understanding of the symbol's importance to Sarawakian identity. Hee emphasized that symbols represent values and heritage, questioning whether the Malayan tiger could be replaced with a Bengal tiger on the national coat of arms. While Dapsy Sarawak welcomes Affin Bank's regional headquarters move to Sarawak, Hee asserted that progress shouldn't compromise cultural respect.
