Sarawak's primary school dropout rate has decreased to four students in 2024, thanks to the Sarawak State Education Department's continuous engagement with pupils and parents, particularly those from low-income families. Deputy Education Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis attributed the decline to proactive engagement activities. A special recruitment drive under the Contract of Service scheme is addressing teacher shortages, with both education and non-education graduates being hired. The ministry is also prioritizing improvements to dilapidated schools across the state.
