Extending the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) to Sungai Golok, at the Malaysia-Thailand border, would complete the eastern corridor of the Singapore-Kunming Rail Link, boosting regional connectivity and trade. This extension would link Port Klang and Kuantan Port to Kunming via southern Thailand, complementing the existing western route. It aligns with ASEAN's connectivity master plan and Malaysia's national logistics policy, potentially halving Kota Bharu-Bangkok transit time and supporting Kelantan's development by attracting significant private investment.
