The Malaysian People's Power Movement (G57) is offering free legal aid and sponsoring Zara Qairina Mahathir's mother for Umrah following the suspicious death of the religious school student in Papar, Sabah. G57 chairman, Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar, said this is to help the family seek justice. He expressed empathy for the mother's grief and highlighted the deceased's pre-death voice recording indicating fear and distress. Zulkarnain submitted a memorandum to the King, urging for an open inquest, and thanked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for assuring no one involved will be protected. While the police investigation is complete, G57 believes greater transparency is needed and hopes the rulers will discuss an inquest at their council meeting.
