Malaysia's skill-related underemployment rate decreased to 35.7% in Q1 2024 from 37.3% in 2022. Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad attributed this to government initiatives addressing skills mismatches in the labor market. Ministries are working to provide highly skilled labor through training programs via agencies like TalentCorp, the Manpower Department (JTM), and HRD Corp. JTM trained over 84,000 participants in various fields in 2024, and the Department of Skills Development is updating training and certification systems to align with industry needs.
