A contractor in Kota Kinabalu was fined RM15,000 for causing the death of three workers due to electrocution. The incident occurred during a solar lamp installation near a high-voltage line in Ranau. The contractor, E. Royston Tan, pleaded guilty to violating the Electricity Supply Enactment 2024. Two workers were electrocuted while on scaffolding, and a third was electrocuted while attempting to help. The court imposed the fine with a default jail sentence of 12 months.
