Malaysian hotel tycoon Ong Beng Seng, 79, pleaded guilty to obstructing justice in a Singapore court. He aided former transport minister S. Iswaran, who was jailed last year for corruption, in concealing evidence. Prosecutors are seeking a two-month jail sentence, but Ong's lawyers are requesting leniency due to his serious health conditions, including an incurable cancer, arguing for a hefty fine instead. Ong, who brought F1 to Singapore, was arrested in July 2023 and released on bail. His trial has drawn attention due to his connection to Iswaran and Singapore's reputation for low corruption.
