The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is investigating a viral video showing influencers allegedly giving leftover food to a homeless person. The investigation follows public complaints about the unethical video, which exploits vulnerable individuals for cheap entertainment and views. The MCMC stated that creating and distributing content that degrades or insults individuals can normalize inhumane culture. They warned against sharing provocative content and reminded the public that sharing offensive, false, or threatening content is punishable under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, with fines up to RM500,000 and/or imprisonment.
